How it works
From the scales to the shelf.
Average yield is total honey weight divided by the number of contributing hives. Full jars are rounded down; the remainder is the honey left over. Use the net weight of honey, excluding containers. The estimate assumes no filling losses and does not predict future yields.
Useful to know
Which hives should I include?
For yield per producing hive, enter only hives that contributed to this harvest. For an apiary-wide average, include every hive in that apiary, including those with no harvest. Use the same definition when comparing seasons.
Is jar size a volume or a weight?
Use the net weight of honey you intend to put into each jar: grams in metric mode or weight ounces in imperial mode. Millilitres and fluid ounces are volume units and cannot be entered as weight.
Will the calculated number of jars always be exact?
It is a packing estimate. Honey remaining in equipment, filling losses and your chosen fill tolerance can reduce the number of saleable jars. The calculator does not assess honey moisture or quality.
